Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has signed the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦1.47 trillion into law.

The governor, according to a statement issued yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, signed the Budget during a meeting of the Kano State Executive Council at the Government House, Kano.

The Budget is a move aimed at boosting development and improving living standards in the state.

Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Isma’il Falgore, described the Budget as the first in Northern Nigeria’s history to exceed ₦1 trillion, saying it would support ongoing projects to enhance citizens’ welfare.

The ₦1,477,829,666,131 Appropriation Law was approved by the Assembly last week. Recall that Yusuf had presented a ₦1,368,127,929,271 Budget estimate, themed: “Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development”.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prudent resource management and effective budget implementation, prioritising infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare.
